The Department of Law

Dedicated to the development of the legal profession, UIR’s Department of Law has, since its founding in 2003, helped talented students develop professional competence and an international perspective so as to better serve the nation and society.

UIR’s Department of Law set various teaching and research offices offering instruction and undertaking research in the areas of legal education, legal practice, and international law. Besides, legal consultant room and law service center are established. The department offers a four-year undergraduate major program, with its graduates receiving a Bachelor of Law. The department also offers graduate programs in international relations and international law, with graduates from these programs receiving, respectively, a Master’s in Studies in Law and a Master’s of Laws.

Since it was founded in 2003 the Department of Law has developed specialized curriculums in a number of key areas of law. At the same time, its faculty has formed international research teams in a variety of legal fields, including constitutional law, administrative law, criminal law, and civil and commercial law.

Recognized as a national-level academic institution and get funded by the National Ministry of Education and the city of Beijing Municipal Government in 2007 and 2008, the department has achieved remarkable accomplishments. The Department of Law put more focus on international law and national security law on the foundation of a liberal legal education. In addition, the department emphasizes on practice in foreign affairs, international legal affairs, and foreign language proficiency to help its students acquire high-caliber professional abilities in law, politics and foreign language.
